SCS SB 153 -- SALE OF MILK

SPONSOR:  Clemens (Cunningham)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass" by the Special Committee on
Emerging Issues in Animal Agriculture by a vote of 12 to 0.

This substitute specifies that a cooperative association
providing economic benefits and services to its members for the
purchase of milk products is not a violation of Section 416.440,
RSMo, the Unfair Milk Sales Practices Act.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2010, FY 2011, and
FY 2012.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill only makes a needed
clarification of the Missouri Unfair Milk Sales Practices Act.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Cunningham; Missouri
Wholesale Distributors Association; and Missouri Grocers'
Association.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
